vRA 8 Deployment and Migration considerations

Re: Driver and Software Update

PK,

VMware Workspace ONE UEM does have an integration with Dell Client Command Suite to allow for updating BIOS/drivers on Dell devices. You can see the details on how to do this integration with the Integrating with Dell Client Command Suite Tutorial. For non-Dell devices, you have a few options such as using Software Distribution capabilities in Workspace ONE to deliver the drivers or software updates, and leverage Sensors to grab any attribute from the device e.g. driver versions. You can check out this Sensors sample repo for some examples.

Respectfully,

JN

No....... dont install old 6.5.  Install and use vCenter 6.7!  The HTML5 Client is now feature complete. Or vCenter manage 6.0, 6.5 and 6.7 hosts.

Joerg

Yes! this worked!

But there is some "sketchy" commands here.

Like: "sudo ln -s /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libz.so.1" and "/usr/lib/vmware/lib/libz.so.1/libz.so.1"

You should try to avoid using symlinks

Question on a pre-upgrade check item for NSX upgrade

We are upgrading from NSX v6.35 to v6.46. We are going through the runbook and the upgrade guide.

In the upgrade guide on page 22 there is a.

Validate netcpad and vsfwd user-world agent

We know how to do the ESXi hosts.

On the nsxmanger is says to use "show tech-support" and grep for port 5671.

Do we pipe this a file or something? It is just a huge output and we control-c it.

Also we not doing the upgrade for another month, we are just getting familar with the process

So can someone show me how to do that show tech-support  and grep it. Thank you.

I was able to use "net use * \\eddys-i7472I\c" and copied it over from a download on Windows 10. But I get an error when I try to run it. Maybe XP can't support the 32 bit .exe format.

I have done this many times before by using the option to install the tools but VMware now has that grayed out. Maybe I should try an earlier version of VMware.

No idea why it's greyed out.  I have Workstation 15.5.1 installed on a Win 10 host OS.  One WinXP VM with Workstation 5.x compatibility, another with Workstation 10.x compatibility, both of them with the Install VMware Tools enabled.

What do you mean by "Or vCenter manage 6.0, 6.5 and 6.7 hosts."?

Dalla configurazione che descrivi non hai problemi di overlapping, ogni scheda è collegata ad uno switch diverso.

Which build of VCSA 6.7 are you running?
And do you use an embedded PSC or not?

You can definitely do it for machine resources. In the target dropdown its literally called Blueprint Name.

What is your XaaS Resource Action attached to? Another custom type?

Version = 6.7.0

Build = 14792544

Im not sure on the embedded PSC, I do know that this command worked just fine before we upgraded to 6.7 (we were on 6.5 previously)

I would in any case suggest to open a SR.

I'm running that same build and I don't seem to have an issue with Tags.

I tried, but they said we need to have SDK support in our contract. Working on that now
